Our Story
Sticky Rice Homestay was born from Amy's desire to share the beauty and culture of Tả Van village with travelers seeking authentic experiences. Located in the winding hills at the bottom of the Sapa valley, the homestay combines modern luxuries with the genuine warmth of village life.
The name "Sticky Rice" pays homage to Cốm (green sticky rice), a beloved Vietnamese delicacy that represents the connection between land, culture, and community—values that are central to our homestay experience.

Our three modern double rooms, each with en-suite bathrooms, offer comfort while maintaining the authentic atmosphere of village life. Every stay includes the opportunity to connect with local culture, enjoy Amy's renowned cooking, and experience the breathtaking beauty of Sapa Valley.
The Giay (Zay) Tribe
The Giay are one of Sapa's ethnic minority groups, distinguished by their valley-dwelling lifestyle and focus on wet-rice farming. Unlike the Hmong and Dao who traditionally lived at higher altitudes, the Giay settled in the fertile valleys, developing sophisticated terraced rice farming techniques.
The Giay people have maintained their distinct cultural identity while adapting to modern times. Their language belongs to the Tai-Kadai family, and their traditions reflect their close relationship with the land and water.
